IT Factory’s CEO charged with fraud to the amount of DKK 1 billion

IT Factory’s CEO, Stein Bagger, who has disappeared, has now been charged with forgery and fraud against Danish and foreign banks for an amount of up to DKK 1 billion.
Bagger disappeared Thursday last week, and several media believe that they are tracking him down. One newspaper wrote that he has probably be seen on the Bahamas, while the newspaper B.T. has reported that he may be in Hong Kong.

Head of the office of the public prosecutor for serious economic crimes, Jens Madsen, decided to send Mr Bagger in a preliminary statutory hearing, notwithstanding his absence.
On top of the fraud against a number of banks Mr Bagger has also forged IT-Factory’s chairman, Mr Asger Jensby’s signature, prosecutor Per Justesen said.
This false signature has had as consequence that a number of banks, including Danske Bank, have suffered losses on various leasing contracts.

The formal charge comprises two matters – partly a case from 2008 concerning fraud for DKK 51 million against the SEB Bank, partly the IT-Factory collapse itself. This does not rule out the possibility of more counts later.
