The Danish producer of wind turbine blades, LM Glasfiber, now opens sit second blade factory in China, sharing the expectations of CEO Ditlev Engel of Vestas that the country will be the world’s largest market within a few years.
»China has most impressively committed to the development of renewable energy. I am confident that China will become the world’s biggest wind energy market within the next few years ,« CEO Roland Sundén of LM Glasfiber said in his auauguration speech.
CEO Ditlev Engel of Vestas expressed the same opinion less than a month ago when he visited Beijing. According to BTM Consult the company, based in Randers, is number two in China after the local major player Goldwind.
The new blade factory is LM Glasfiber’s second blade factory in China and is expected to manufacture about 500 blades annually. A further expansion of the capacity is slated for 2008.
The first blades from the factory will be supplied to Goldwind turbines at the Da Ban Cheng wind park in Xinjiang. The wind farm is the largest in China and has 200 relatively small turbines with a total installed capacitay of 100 MW.
