New Copenhagen Mayor Frank Jensen broke the rules when he assisted former campaign workers get jobs in City Hall without first advertising the vacancies, according to a City Council report that has now been submitted to Parliamentary Ombudsman.
Seven of Jensen’s former campaign workers followed him to the mayoral secretariat when he took office. Three were employed through internal reshuffles, while four others were appointed to jobs that were not advertised externally.
While concluding that Jensen acted within the current guidelines on recruiting the three employees through internal reshuffles, the report found that the filling of one of the four external positions did not comply with current rules. It added that the rules should be updated to take into account more recent decisions on internal recruiting.
Copenhagen Municipality CEO Claus Juhl said in a press statement that the municipality's guidelines will be updated to take the findings info account.
