Carlsberg is buying one eighth of the Chinese brewery, Chongqing Brewery Co (CBC) for DKK 2.1 billion.
According to an announcement from Carlsberg the conditional agreement increases the company’s stake in the brewery from 17.46 per cent to 29.71 per cent.
CBC runs a total of 15 breweries in China and is the market leader in the Chongqing region. Moreover, the brewery is present in the nearby regions Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Hunan as well as the eastern regions Anhui, Zhejiang and Jiangsu. In 2009 CBC’s total production in China was around 10 million hectolitres.
Carlsberg said that the transaction depends on a number of conditions and approvals from authorities and minority shareholders. Direkt/BNS
