Carlsberg achieves control of Chinese brewery

Carlsberg has achieved control of the Chinese brewery Wusu Brewery Group which is described as a »really good business« and one of the brewery’s »most important investments in Western China«, press officer Jens Peter Skaarup told the news agency Direkt.
»We can now consolidate the Wusu-result into our accounts, which we can do, because we have now achieved full control of the brewery. Previously we did not have full control because of some shareholders’ agreements,« he explains.
He does not want to discuss the contents of the shareholders’ agreements, but the fact is that today Carlsberg has increased its ownership share of Wusu from 60 per cent to 63.4 per cent.
Wusu Brewery group consists of nine breweries. In 2008 it sold over three million hectolitres of beer and was thus market leader in Xinjiang. Direkt/BNS
