Significantly more bankruptcies in August

03-09-2010 14:05 An increasing number of businesses find it difficult to pay their bills, and in August 421 businesses had to close down and file for bankruptcy. This is an increase of over 17 per cent compared to August 2009, it appears from a survey made by the credit and market information firm Experian.

The increasing number of bankruptcies compared to last year is particularly significant in the peripheral regions of Denmark such as Lolland, Falster, Bornholm and Western Jutland.

In spite of the rising number of bankruptcies, there are also positive things. The survey shows that in the first eight months of 2010 there were 133 more start-ups than in the same period 2009. Direkt/BNS
