Vestas shares Soar, C20 Posts Small Gain

12-08-2010 18:17 While Denmark’s C20 index fluctuated between positive and negative territory today, the only clear success was wind power multinational Vestas, whose shares proved popular after news of another large order.

The company’s shares spiked almost four percent after it confirmed it is to deliver 140 large turbines to a new wind park in Australia. The project represents the largest single order for Vestas in the Australia and Asia Pacific region, and analysts believe that it could an important milestone for the company. The company’s share price ended the day up 3.9 percent at 299.20.

Novozymes shares closed 0.4 percent up at 717.50 after the enzyme company upgraded expectations for full year. Sales are now expected to grow between seven and nine percent in local currencies, while sales in Danish kroner are expected to grow between 10 and 12 percent. Analysts had expected sales expectations to grow by around six percent in local currency.

"Novozymes accounts’ were fantastic” Jyske Bank Trader Michael Lyngso told the Direkt news agency.  “The company upgraded even more than analysts had anticipated. We had expected that the share price would have risen more”
 
Another of the day’s winners was brewing giant Carlsberg, whose shares closed up 2.1 percent on positive accounts from rival AB Inbev.

The C20 index closed up 0.2 percent at 412.69.
