Optimism Over Earnings
As many of the nation’s largest companies prepare to release their half-yearly results, most analysts are expecting to see a number of upward adjustments, writes Jyllands-Posten.
Already, DSV and A.P. Moller - Maersk have announced higher earnings than expected, while Novo Nordisk upgraded on Thursday. Analysts expect similarly positive results from FLSmidth, NKT Holding, William Demant, Novozymes, Lundbeck, Genmab, ALK Albello and Carlsberg.
"Companies have been cautious in their [2010] predictions because they were made at the end of a huge downturn’," Sydbank Senior analyst Jacob Pedersen told Jyllands-Posten.“But things have gone significantly better than expected over the last half year”
"We're pretty confident that earnings will surprise positively in Denmark” said Rune Moller, Head of Equities and Corporate Bond Analysis at Jyske Bank. “It's the trend that we've seen in the U.S. and the rest of Europe. About half of the companies in the U.S. managed to deliver earnings on their shares that were more than five percent higher than expected."
