Corporate Tax Cut Could be Price of LA Support

05-08-2010 09:59 Political maneuverings at Christiansborg could lead to the lowering of corporate taxes, Borsen newspaper writes.

The fact that the government is struggling to achieve outright majority makes it more likely that it will invite the small, centrist Liberal Alliance Party (LA) to join financial negotiations in the autumn. The LA a staunch supporter of lower business taxes.

While Liberal Alliance Chairman Anders Samuelsen has not yet been invited to join the negotiations, political analysts agree that his participation looks increasingly likely.

Samuelsen told Borsen that any government pledge to reduce corporate taxes would be a major incentive to co-operate.

"If they come to us, then clearly there should be something [on the table] within the areas we focus on” Samuelsen said. “It is no secret that our ambition is to halve corporation tax, which would bring it down to 10 per cent”.

If necessary, financing can be found by looking at public spending” he added

Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen yesterday hinted that he wants to lower corporate taxes, but does not currently have the money for it.
