After a string of good recent performances, the Danish stock exchange finally ran out of steam Wednesday, followed the downbeat mood that prevailed in much of Europe
Despite encouraging figures from U.S. labor market and a rally by wind power company Vestas, the C20 index ended the day down 0.42 percent at 423.72.
Among the days poor performers were William Demant, whose shares fell 2.34 percent after a critical report from Citigroup. Shipping companies A.P. Moller-Maersk and D / S Norden also posted falls. Norden’s shares fell 1.85 percent while Maersk’s “A” and “B” shares both lost a little over half a percent.
Vestas’ shares closed the day up 2.80 percent on the back of new research that predicted a favorable future for the wind turbine market.
Outside the C20, shares in North Media rose 9.5 percent after the company released a largely positive set of results for the first half of 2010.
