Stock Market Buoyant

02-08-2010 18:52 The Danish stock exchange was in bullish mood today on positive indicators from the U.S. and good results from two major European banks, HSBC and BNP Parisbas. By the end of the day’s trading, nineteen of Denmark’s 20 most traded shares had posted rises. In all, the C20-index rose 2.44 percent, closing at 420.85 at the end of the day's trading.

Shares in Danske Bank posted a gain of almost 4.5 percent, and closed at 140.70 – their highest level since May. The bank’s shares have now gained 19 percent in value since the New Year.

Shares in medical equipment manufacturers Coloplast rose 3.5 percent, while Sydbank and Jyske Bank rose by around 1.4 and 2.1 percent respectively. A.P. Moller-Maersk’s “A” and “B” shares both gained around three percent.

The only stock that finished in negative territory was the pharmaceutical company Lundbeck, which lost 0.4 percent on the news that it was recalling two batches of a drug.
