Danish Shares Rise on Positive Foreign Expectations

29-07-2010 18:18 Encouraging financials from foreign competitors boosted the share price of shipping companies D/S Norden and AP Moller-Maersk today, which helped the entire C20-index to move up half a percentage point.

The fact that three large Japanese shipping companies  -  Mitsui, Nippon Yusen and Kawasaki Kisen – all upwardly revised their 2010/11 expectations had a knock-on effect  on the Danish carriers. Shares in D / S Norden spiked 3.2 per cent, while Maersk’s "A" share price rose 1.9 percent.

Vestas’ shares also gained ground due to a positive performance by a competitor. The Danish wind power giant saw its shares rise 1.4 per cent in value after Siemens Renewable Energy reported that its Q2 orders were worth around 2.271 billion euros, an increase of 22 percent on the same period last year

Other positive performers included the nation’s banks and cement company FLSmidth. At the close of the day’s trading, the C20 index of Denmark’s twenty most traded shares stood at 413.80.
