Vestas receives record-setting order in USA The wind turbine company Vestas published today a record-setting order for 190 V90-3.0 MW turbines for a wind park in USA. The size of this order makes it the company’s largest order in the company’s history for a single site. The turbines will be located near Tehachapi in California, and they will be delivered to the company Terra-Áen’s Alta Wind Energy Center. The order will help the Danish wind turbine giant reach its financial target for 2010, as delivery of the turbines is scheduled for late 2010. The first 50 will be commissioned by the end of this year and the remaning 140 turbines will be online in the first half of 2011.
The contract also includes a five-year service and maintenance agreement. The turbines will be produced locally in Colorado, USA, where Vestas has a blades factory in Windsor and a towers factory in Pueblo. The order is the eighth North American deal for Vestas announced this year. The total capacity of the orders amount to 1336 MW among four turbine types, the company said. Ritzau/BNS
