New decrease in unemployment

01-07-2010 10:18 The Danish unemployment remained unchanged at 4.1 per cent in May,but this covers a decrease in the number of unemployed of 2000 persons. According to new data from Statistics Denmark, 112,700 persons were unemployed in May.
In April, the unemployment decreased to 4.1 per cent from 4.2 per cent. This reflected a increase of the labour force of 2400 persons.
The unemployment has increased since the bottom precisely two years ago, when only 1.7 per cent were unemployed. An unemployment of 4.1 per cent is at level with the number of unemployed in April 2006.
The gross unemployment being the sum of the registered unemployed and the re-training available persons was in May 161,100 persons, the same as in April, corresponding to 5.9 per cent of the labour force.
The unemployment among men has decreased by 6.8 per cent since February to 67,000 unemployed in May. The number of unemployed women has nearly been unchanged. In May 45,100 women were unemployed.
»In the last three months the total number of unemployed has fallen by 4 per cent. With a fall of 7.5 per cent the unemployment has decreased the most for persons in the age group 25-29 years, followed by persons in the age group 50-59 years with a decrease of 4.9 per cent,« Statistics Denmark wrote.
