The Irish banking business is once more a black stain on Danske Bank’s financial result. The losses increase, and the losses in the two banks have reached DKK 22 billion, since CEO Peter Straarup signed the acquisition contract in December 2004.
The retiring CEO dares not estimate when the losses will come to an end. “We are not the biggest fools in the Irish market. All players in this market have suffered big losses,” said Peter Straarup, who has today presented his last annual accounts in his capacity as the bank’ CEO. On February 15 he will retire.
According to him, Danske Bank has only one chance to get our of the Irish nightmare with the two banks Northern Bank and Irish National Bank.
