The wind turbine giant Vestas announced today a massive loss for the financial year 2011 of EUR 166 million (DKK 1.2 billion) after taxes. This is the first loss since 2005.
The analysts had predicted that the result would be a loss after Vestas’ announcement on January 3 that the operating result (EBIT) would amount to about 0 at year-end. But they had only expected a loss of EUR 42 million.
Revenue amounted to EUR 5,836 million (DKK 43 billion) against the expected EUR 6,000 million. This is over a billion euro below the 2010 figure which is due to deferred shipments because of various technical challenges.
