Danish wage-raises above international average

02-09-2010 11:25 DA, Dansk Arbejdsgiverforening (The Confederation of Danish Employers) has published its international wage statistics for the second quarter 2010, and it shows that the Danish wage increases have outpaced the international average.
This is particularly significant in the manufacturing industry and trade.
Internationally the wages increased in the manufacturing industry by 2.4 per cent in the second quarter, whereas the Danish wages rose 2.5 per cent.
In the trading sector the international wages rose by 1.5 per cent on average, whereas the wage increase in Denmark amounted to 2.2 per cent.
Only the troubled construction sector is lagging behind. The Danish wages in this sector rose by 1.1 per cent compared to the international increase of 1.5 per cent.
In spite of the Danish wage leadership, the real wages have gone down, as the inflation in the second quarter was 2.3 per cent annually. According to Statistics Denmark the total Danish wage increases amounted to 2.2 per cent.
New data from Statistics Denmark show that the Danish real wages have stopped growing, and this fact casts its long shadows over the current fragile reversing of Danish economy.
