Increasing industrial production

05-03-2010 11:25 Although the figure is considerably lower than it was in the same month last year, the industrial production has been increasing since December last year. The latest data from Statistics Denmark show that the industrial production rose by 3.7 per cent fra December 2009 to January 2010.
The production of non-durable consumer goods, foods for example, rose 13.4 per cent. Precisely this group experienced a big decrease in December. The production of durable consumer goods in January, for example furniture, fell 4.4 per cent compared to December.

»The increasing industrial production is, of course, a positive sign. But when we look at the industrial production these last months, we might not have reason to be all that optimistic,« chief economist Steen Bocian at Danske Bank said and added:
»Unfortunately the order intake is falling when at the same time the production is rising – so indications are that the improvement in the industrial activities is still fragile.«
